How to send a roofing estimate from your phone

Write the estimate, attach roof photos, and get it signed before you pull out of the driveway. Here's the short version.

Old way: drive to the project, measure the roof, drive back to the office, type up the estimate in QuickBooks, email it as a PDF, wait a week for a response. Two of those days are yours; five are them comparing you to the next two roofers who got it to them faster.

New way: create the estimate on your phone, send it before you leave, and give the client a clear path to sign. Here's the short version.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the app and start a new estimate

    From the dashboard, tap New Estimate. Pick the client, or add one with their name, email, and property address. You can fill in the rest as you finish the estimate.

Add line items from a saved template

Use the line-item picker or a saved roofing template for tear-off, underlayment, shingles, drip edge, ridge vent, labor, and cleanup. Adjust quantities to match what you measured. The editor works on a phone, so you can finish the scope while the details are fresh.

    Snap roof photos and attach them

    Tap Add Photos and use the camera. Get the damage shots, existing flashing, and the gutter line. Attached photos appear in the client view and in the estimate PDF.

    Set a deposit

    Turn on Deposit and choose a percentage or fixed amount for this estimate. Check your state licensing board before choosing the amount. The client can pay it after signing if your estimate requires a deposit.

  • 5

    Send and ask for the signature

    Tap Send. Homefront sends the estimate through the notification channels available for that client, with a link to the portal. They can review the scope, sign, and pay a required deposit from there.
